Together we must tell women: your health is important, take care of yourself as you take care of others – said Deputy Speaker of the Sejm Monika Wielichowska at the Women's Health Forum. She expressed her conviction that the event, the first edition of which began today in Katowice, will become "a space for dialogue, exchange of knowledge and building integrated models of healthcare, which we will discuss in the Sejm".

  • The first Women's Health Forum began on June 9
  • The inaugural session was attended by the Minister of Health, Izabela Leszczyna.
  • - I hope that when talking about women's health there will be less and less ideology and less politics, and more and more health - said the minister.
  • - Each of us should have the courage and the opportunity to take regular care of ourselves, consult a doctor and seek help when we need it - said the deputy speaker of the Sejm, Monika Wielichowska, who could not come to Katowice, but prepared a recording for the participants of the Forum.
  • The event will last until Tuesday, June 10th.
Minister Leszczyna at the Women's Health Forum: I will do everything to implement your recommendations
Medical needs: from a girl to senior policy. Women's Health Forum launched

- I think the Women's Health Forum will show how many challenges women face today at every stage of life. Young girls need support in the area of gynecological health. Adult women face lifestyle diseases, and mature women face the challenges of menopause or chronic diseases. All of this requires not only professional medical care, but also understanding, empathy and such support from the environment - said Monika Wielichowska in a recording addressed to the event participants.

- Let's not be afraid to talk about prevention, let's not be afraid to talk about tests that can save lives. Breast cancer, cervical cancer, heart disease, diabetes, depression are not taboo subjects - she appealed.

- Each of us should have the courage and the opportunity to take regular care of ourselves, consult a doctor and seek help when we need it. Mental health is just as important as physical health. Let's remember this, because often it is on our shoulders that the care for our family rests - she added.

She emphasized that women are most often concerned about the health of their families - children, partners or parents. But very often in this daily rush, care, sacrifice they forget about themselves, about the fact that their health is just as important as the health of their loved ones.

- But we also have the right to rest, support, and care. Together we must tell women: you are important, your health is important. Take care of yourself just as you take care of others. Don't put off your needs until later, don't downplay your fatigue, don't ignore worrying signals. You have to invest in your health, because it is the most valuable. There is nothing more important than your health, your life, and your happiness - the deputy speaker of the Sejm argued.

She expressed her belief that the Forum will become a space for dialogue, knowledge exchange and building integrated healthcare models, which we will discuss later in the Sejm. - In the Sejm, where during many events, together with the Minister of Health Izabela Leszczyna, we manage to find space for topics related to health prevention. Prevention, which is the most important thing - she summed up.
